About Our Logo

My logo, a longship sailing in from the horizon, represents the swift and safe navigation Larson Private Investigations provides for its clients through hazards or obstructions on the course to finding the truth. The longsword represents strength, prestige, justice, and the defense of our clients’ interests and discretion. The colors within the design represent the colors of the American, English and Norwegian flags – red for courage, white for purity, blue for truth.

David C. Larson is an 11th-generation descendant of English ancestors who immigrated to America in 1635, just 15 years after the first English settlement at Plymouth Rock, as well as a 10th-generation descendant of Norwegian ancestors from Oppland, Norway who immigrated to upper Wisconsin in 1853; some still reside there today speaking the traditional tongue passed down over the past 150 years.

“I am deeply proud of my Norwegian, English, and American roots and when I formed Larson Private Investigations, I wanted to create a logo that reflected the strength of spirit and devotion it took my ancestors to explore new worlds and build enterprises. By bringing those same virtues to my investigations business, I hope to set a course that others will follow.” – David C. Larson

The Longship
The Longship

Over 1000 years ago, the Norse developed the longship, capable of voyaging beyond sight of shore. This ship developed a reputation for speed and agility.

With the longship, the Norse traveled further than Europeans had ever gone before and established a network of communications over great distances. Whether as colonizers, traders or warriors, Norsemen reached almost every part of the known world and discovered new lands. Norse expansion was only made possible by their legendary superiority in shipbuilding and their supreme navigation skills, which allowed them to travel further, faster and more surely than their contemporaries.

They explored the uncharted waters of the North Atlantic. They settled as farmers in the barren western lands of Greenland and discovered America five hundred years before Columbus. In the east, they would help found the Russian empire. Norsemen were fierce warriors, serving as mercenaries at the court of Byzantium, however they were much more than mere marauders. They were highly skilled craftsmen, traders, and poets, and lands were won - not just by brute force - but with superior technology, and political cunning.

And their hunger for adventure knew no bounds.

The Longsword
The Longsword

For a Norse Viking, owning a sword was a matter of high prestige, as swords were very costly to make. Norse craftsmen often added their own elaborately decorated hilts, and many swords were given names, such as Leg-biter and Gold-hilt. A sword mentioned in a 13th century Norse saga was valued at half a crown, corresponding to the value of 16 milk-cows. It was the strength of the Norsemen and their swords that made it possible for them to reach almost every part of the known world and discover new lands.
