Larson completed a 24-year law enforcement career with the Oakland (CA) Police Department, where he earned honors and was recognized as a top detective. Mr. Larson investigated over 40,000 criminal cases, from theft to homicide, and supervised other investigators for eleven years as a Police Sergeant. He earned certificates from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, the National Law Enforcement Institute, the California Peace Officers’ Association, and The Reid Institute. Mr. Larson performed over 5,000 formal interviews during his career, and is proficient in the Reid, Neuro-Linguistic, and Kinesthetic Interviewing techniques.

Mr. Larson is a recognized authority in criminal investigation procedures, interviewing and interrogation techniques, and training methods, and was an instructor in the Oakland Police Academy.

Mr. Larson also conducted over 700 background investigations of police officer and civilian candidates during his career. In 2007, Mr. Larson graduated from the Center for Professional Investigations and Training in Martinez, CA; he passed his state licensing exam on his first attempt. He holds two college degrees in Criminal Justice.

During his investigations career, Mr. Larson earned awards for his work; in 1991, he earned a Recognition Award for his preliminary investigation work from members of the Criminal Investigation Division, and in 1996, he earned a Captain’s Commendation for successfully concluding a series of criminal cases involving thefts from the elderly.
